Dr. Raja Mohamed Kheir is an accomplished academic with extensive experience in rural development. She holds a BSc (Honours) in Rural Development from Gezira University (1999), an M.Sc. in Rural Development from Red Sea University (2007), and a PhD in Rural Development from the same institution (2013).  

Dr. Kheir began her career at Red Sea University in 1999 as Head of the Department of Rural Development. She later served as a Teaching Assistant (2003), Lecturer (2007), and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2013. Her academic leadership and expertise have contributed significantly to the development of the rural development field in Sudan.  

In addition to her academic career, Dr. Kheir has led various impactful research and assessments, including: 

• Analysis of natural resources institutions in Red Sea State. 
• Socioeconomic study for Haya Locality. 
• Market study on charcoal (mesquite tree) for Oxfam GB’s food security program. 
• Needs assessment survey for a community development project proposal in Tokar Locality. 
• Survey for the Durdaib and Haya Integrated Food Security Program. 
• Survey of potential women candidates for elections in Red Sea State. 
• Urbanization study in Port Sudan Town. 
• Needs and livelihoods assessments for refugees and host communities in closed camps in Gedaref State. 
• Child protection assessment using participatory rapid appraisal techniques in selected localities of Red Sea State. 
• Civil Society Capacity Development Project in post-conflict states (Eastern Sudan, South and North Kordofan, Blue Nile States). 

Her extensive research and leadership experience continue to shape the development of sustainable policies and programs in Sudan.
